Where Life Takes You by Claudia Y. Burgoa Book Review

I received the book Where Life Takes You for free from Xpresso Book Tours so I can review it.

Where Life Takes You  (Life #1)
By Claudia Y. Burgoa
Publication date: July 31st 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Book Description:

Becca Trent lived her childhood next to a cruel woman—her mom—who lived to torment and neglect her. During her high school years, her mother married; bringing home not only a new husband, but a step sister her same age. The latter took over her Mom’s role—making Becca’s life miserable. Including stealing Ian—Becca’s best friend and boyfriend—Lisa treated her worse than her mother had for the previous fifteen years. A couple of years later, things ended up in tragedy.

Becca buried that part of her life in the deep corners of her psyche, but that only work during the days when the nightmares didn’t come back to haunt her. Her best friend, Dan gives her that family love she always lacked. Everything was close to perfect, until everything and everyone from her past came back. Now, she’s trying to figure out how to survive and keep that bond which seems now to be held together by a thread.

Note: This is the first part of a two book novel.

My Opinion:
This review is very difficult to write because I'm afraid to say too much and give the story away. Where Life Takes You is a very emotional story. If you decide to read it just be prepared for so much drama! Becca has a horrible childhood thanks to her mom that never wanted her or loved her. After Becca's mom gets married Becca's new step sister Lisa makes her life even worse. Thankfully Becca has a millionaire best friend who helps her try to fix her life. I really like Becca and Dan but they are not perfect. Becca loves chocolate, the color pink, and tulips just like me and I liked having things in common with her. She has so much problems though but with everything she went through I don't blame her. Dan seems like a very sweet and loving friend but at the same time he is very controlling. I don't read many books like these but I enjoyed it. Becca doesn't get her happy ending this time but hopefully she does in the second book. I give this book 4 stars.
