Gilbert never knew that school could be so dangerous!
Determined to accompany his new friend, Aoleon, wherever she goes, Gilbert soon finds himself back in school – at the Martian Space Academy. But Gilbert soon finds out it’s not all fun and games. Not only is Aoleon’s arch nemesis, Charm Lepton, determined to make sure that Aoleon doesn’t make it through the psiball game, but Gilbert also comes under attack when a mysterious force attempts to control him.

My opinion:
Part 2 of Aoleon and Gilbert's adventure starts off really good. Aoleon paints Gilbert blue so he doesn't stand out while she shows him around Mars. Somehow Gilbert gets the attention of the Luminess, who is the wife of Luminon the Martian leader, and she tries to control him so Aoleon and Gilbert have to run away and escape again. The rest of the book wasn't as exciting as the first book. Aoleon takes Gilbert home and introduces him to her family. The next day she takes him to her school where he meets some of Aoleons classmates and learns a little Martian history. After school Gilbert watches Aoleon play a game called psi-ball.
I was hoping for more action but part 2 was mostly about what living in Mars is like. Some of the names are pretty strange like Ptolemy, Xanthe, Phaethontis and Plutarch Xenocrates. There are some funny parts just like in the first book and the pictures are very helpful. I think I would enjoy this book so much more as an audiobook so I could hear how to say all the names but then I would miss out on the pictures. I did like this book but I am hoping Part 3 has a lot more action. I give this book 3 stars.

Book Review: Aoleon The Martian Girl Part 1 First Contact by Brent LeVasseur
I received a free ebook copy to review.
Mars wants our cows (yes, cows!) and they're sending an invasion fleet to take them from us. Only Gilbert and Aoleon the Martian Girl stand in their way!
Gilbert always longed for adventure but now that he has it, he's not sure that it's everything it's cracked up to be. Ever since the night he met Aoleon the Martian Girl sitting in the middle of a crop circle in Farmer Johnson's field, it's been nothing but one wild ride after another.
From fighting off swarms of giant killer robots to dealing with strange aliens from another world, never mind trekking across the vast Martian desert in order to skyboard deep into the center of a (hopefully!) extinct volcano, Gilbert's had his hand full just trying to keep up with it all. And now it's up to him and his new friend, Aoleon, to face off against the evil Martian overlord and keep our cows safe at home where they belong.
The launch of this exciting and innovatively illustrated new series takes the reader deep into the heart of an unforgettable and out-of-this-world friendship in a story full of hijinks, hilarity, and good old-fashioned fun. Join Gilbert and Aoleon in this exciting middle grade science fiction adventure today!

My opinion:
Aoleon The Martian Girl Part 1 starts of at the Sullivan Farm House in Nebraska where we meet Gilbert Sullivan. Gilbert seems like a normal farm boy with a pet cat and strange dreams. Gilbert wakes up from one of his dreams and because he can't go back to sleep decides to look at the sky through his telescope when he sees a strange light pass over his house. He decides to go investigate and that's how he ends up meeting Aoleon The Martian Girl. Right away Gilbert can tell that Aoleon is friendly. So then their adventure begins! First they run away from Gilbert's neighbor, Farmer Johnson, who is trying to shoot them then they have to escape from military planes trying to shoot them down! I'm so glad the book tells you every time the setting changes because I would have been so confused. The story starts off in Nebraska but it takes you to California to Paris and even to Mars!
What I loved the most about Aoleon The Martian Girl Part 1 was what I love about most fantasy books the action and adventure! The characters are likable, the illustrations are great and I laughed so much! Even though this is a middle grade book I would recommend this book to people of all ages because I believe anyone would enjoy it especially if you're into reading fantasy and science fiction but if you're not you might enjoy it anyway. I give this book 4 stars because I did have to go back and reread some parts a couple times to make sure I understood what was going. Overall a very good book anyone can enjoy!
