Learning Success Program Review and Giveaway ends 5/14

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

My 5 year old daughter started Kindergarten last year. I remember picking her up on her first day of school and her teacher said "she didn't go to preschool did she?" I knew right away we had a problem but I didn't think it would be so bad because not everyone goes to preschool so she couldn't be that far behind.
At my daughters first parent teacher conference my daughter wasn't doing so good so I talked to the teacher about my daughter maybe having a learning disability like dyslexia. The teacher said most children that are learning to read and write get confused and write the letters backwards and if she was still having trouble by the end of the year then we'll worry about it. Now that it's almost the end of the school year they only had parent teacher conferences for at risk students and of course my daughter was one of them. I looked around the classroom to check out other students work and I was surprised how much different my daughters work looked compared to the rest of her classmates. They had colored a picture of a penguin and wrote a sentence starting with "My penguin..." Even though some of her classmates handwriting was a little sloppy or they had a few misspelled or scrambled words I understood and could read every one of their sentences. Except for my daughters. I had no idea what she tried to write because it just looked like a bunch of squiggly lines and when I asked her what it said she had no idea either.

If you have been to my blog before I'm sure you can tell I love to read. Reading is important to me and I want my children to love it just as much as I do. My daughter does pretty good when I'm there helping her but since I have two younger children I can't sit there for very long helping her. Homework time is a very frustrating time for our whole family.

Even though my daughter has not been professionally tested for dyslexia I really believe she has this or a similar learning disability since I have very close family members with dyslexia and I know it does run in families. I did try the free printable dyslexia test from the Learning Success website and my daughter loved it. This program is very fun because instead of work they are more like games you play with your child/ren. You can do this games 3-5 days a week depending on your schedule. I love arrow pointing because it helps my daughter with her left and right and that is one thing she needs a lot of help with. The best thing about this program is that my daughter thinks it's fun. Fun is always a good thing because homework time is so frustrating for us. If your children make excuses for not doing there homework, scribble all over it, crumple it up, or just take about 4 hours to do homework that should take less than an hour then I'm sure you will understand how much of a relief it is to find something that will hopefully help her do better in school and she actually wants to do!

I hope when she starts first grade she will be caught up with the rest of her classmates. The Learning Success Program is a little expensive but as long as it helps I think it's worth it!

About the Learning Success Program:
The learning success program is a simple do-at-home program that will show you how to find the core problems and overcome them. Learning is made up of basic core skills. There are 16 of them in all. The Buzz

"I've seen and enjoyed this theme before, but never in a book for this age group and Ms. Quinn carries it out beautifully. The kids were fun and acted like kids, which makes them believable for all ages. The pace and action will keep readers flipping pages greedily. Also, telling the story from the two viewpoints greatly added to my overall enjoyment. Highly recommend for ages 9 and up." ~ 5 Star Review, Alan T., Amazon

"I am a 10 year old boy. My mom recommended this awesome book to me because she knows Kai Strand, who knows Susan Quinn. I was hooked from the first paragraph! This is a wonderful ( and quite thrilling) story! Good for all ages and I wish I could rate it 100 stars! ... I can definitely recommended this to almost anyone! Good job to Susan Quinn. The story is balanced neatly between Zaneyr and Finn, by Finn's perspective in the first chapter, Zaneyr's perspective in the the next, then Finn again, and so on. Great book and is a must read." ~ 5 Star Review, Red Rose, Amazon

"I LOVED this book. This is one of those books that grabs you and doesnt let you go. Susan Kaye Quinn is an awesome writer! Feary Swap is funny, well paced, and filled with adventure. It's a book no kid will want to miss. I especially loved the witty humor that kept me laughing page after page. The world building was vivid and phenomenal. I could just see this as a movie in my head. I liked how the author sneaks those educational moments in there without you even knowing it. A delightful book for old and young readers alike. Get it!" ~ 5 Star Review, Daddy's Girls Book Reviews, Amazon

The Princess Fables Book Blast and Giveaway

The Princess Fables by Marc Clark

About the Book

Title: The Princess Fables
Author: Marc Clark
Illustrator: Eric Hosford
Publication Date: December 5, 2013
Publisher: Seven C's Productions
Pages: 115
Recommended Ages: 3+

Summary: The Origins of THE PRINCESS FABLES: When the author's daughter was just beginning the first grade, she was not happy about school. So when he would wake her each morning, whatever she would say to get out of going became the subject for a PRINCESS FABLE. If she'd say, "I don't want to," he'd make up a tale about The Princess Who Always Said, "I Don't Wanna". If she pulled the covers over her head, he'd tell her the story of The Princess Who Hid Under The Covers. By the end of each Fable he'd have her dressed and ready for school, with her eyes wide open and full of hope...

THE PRINCESS FABLES are eleven inspirational stories for young girls who may still dream of being a Princess. Each Princess embarks on an adventure of self discovery and along the way, learns about the importance of trust, devotion, courage and the power of love. These classic tales transport little girls to a time and place where they are the heroines and can create their own happy endings.

Every delicate pen and ink illustration reflects the classic fairy tale drawings of the late 19th century.

Award: The Princess Fables was just awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival.

  • Facial Mask Tightens and Purifies Pores leaving Clear, Younger Complexion
  • Dead Sea Mud Quickly Reduces Acne and Pimples
  • Over 21 Minerals Present in Dead Sea Mud Mask help to keep skin healthier and act as acne treatment
  • A Facial Dead Sea Mud Mask Facial Treatmet in Spas cost from $70-120.

My Opinion:
My biggest problem on my face is blackheads. My nose is full of blackheads! I have tried so many different products that work great for the occasional pimple that pops up but none have helped me with my blackheads. What I hadn't tried before was a mud mask. After just one use of the Adovia Dead Sea Mud Mask I saw a huge improvement. My blackheads look so much smaller and my skin felt so smooth after. It is so simple to use also. I put some of the mask all over my face and let it dry for about 15 minutes then I rinsed it of with some warm water. You know the feeling you get when you brush your teeth and it leaves your mouth feeling clean and freshened up? Well that is how my face felt. I loved the way it made my skin feel!

Price is $30 and totally worth it!

The Bellum Prophecy Book Review and Giveaway

By L. Marie Horton
Young Adult Fantasy
Release date: December 12th 2013
Purchase: Amazon

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Two Wars, One Destiny. Seventeen-year-old Edyn Vella always knew that her strange dreams of the future made her unique, but she never knew what they meant. However, when she fails to stop her aunt's murder by an ominous vampiric creature, Edyn learns that her prophetic visions aren't the only superhuman ability she possesses.

Following her late aunt's clues, Edyn finds herself in New York City attempting to save her last surviving relative, the powerful and reclusive billionaire, Ethan Roux. Edyn not only discovers Ethan isn't exactly human, but that she is at the center of an ancient prophecy and could determine the outcome of an impending war.

As Ethan's Omega, his only human descendant, she's thrust into an enigmatic world full of new supernatural creatures where both good and evil vampires and warlocks have waged a centuries-long battle for the fate of humanity. Just as her relationship with the mysterious and handsome Brendan begins to blossom, Edyn's complicated new life quickly spirals out of control when ancient evil becomes determined on making her one of them. Edyn must discover her inner strength while making the choice between a long life without love and a potentially short life full of it.

The Bellum Prophecy is a dark, suspenseful new novel that explores the loss of innocence while coming of age in the midst of a battle between good and evil. Combining the best elements of vampire legend, the supernatural, and even magic, L. Marie Horton uses exciting action and a cutting-edge story to craft a refreshing new take on young adult fiction.

My Opinion:
I'm not usually a fan of vampires but I loved the vampires in The Bellum Prophecy. I admit I love Twilight but honestly if vampires existed I don't believe they would sparkle in the sun. Vampires that have evolved to be able to live in the daylight sounds way more believable to me. So your neighbor could be a vampire and you wouldn't even know it! The vampires, warlocks and the whole Bellum are my favorite part of this book. Edyn was a little annoying and her relationship with Brendan didn't feel right to me. I think Logan or even Kieran would be a better match for Edyn. I feel kinda evil for saying this but I'm so glad The Bellum Prophecy (and Edyn's relationship with Brendan) ended the way it did. I can't wait to read the next book! I give this book 4.5 stars.

Bebe Bella Designs Minky Chenille Bib Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Last month I reviewed a Bebe Bella Designs Crinkle Toy this month I get to review a Bebe Bella Designs Bib!

Product Description From Their Website:
Bebe Bella Designs Bib is a mealtime must! Our baby bib is double sided and features incredibly soft minky chenille fabric. This easy-care for bib has a snap closure to ensure your little one keeps their bib right in place.

  • 100% Polyester
  • Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
  • Made in U.S.A.

My Review:
I can't think of one thing that I do not love about the Bebe Bella Designs Mink Chenille Bib. First of all the softness, it's wonderful! The snap feels strong but very easy for parents to snap on and off. It can be used on either side. The one I have is lime on one side and brown on the other. I can use one color for lunch than turn it around for dinner. The best thing about it though is that it's just super cute! That almost stopped me from using it. I thought this is way to cute to get dirty but it's machine washable so that's not really a problem. That's what bibs are for right? They get dirty so baby clothes stay clean for longer. This Bebe Bella Designs Bib is the cutest bib any of my kids have ever wore.

If you would like to buy one you can get 50% off solid colored bibs today April 25th only with the coupon code  "blogbib". They are $17.50 and the coupon code will only work for solid colored bibs.

You can buy them here.

Check out on Goodreads!

Purchase on Amazon and Barnes & Noble!

Synopsis:
Possessing the uncanny ability to fry a television set from twenty paces can really wreck a girl’s social life.

If you’re looking for proof, just ask sixteen-year-old Alexandra Parker. After catching her boyfriend in the arms of the prettiest girl in school, she made the journey from social elite to social pariah in a haze of electricity and exploding electronics. But finding herself at the bottom of Bay View High’s social hierarchy was nothing compared to the shock of discovering who—and what—she really is.

After being zapped out of a burning bookstore by the mysterious Declan—a hero nearly as handsome as he is infuriating—Alex finds herself under the protection of the powerful Grayson family. It’s through them that she learns the truth: that the world she’s always known is nothing like it appears to be... and that she has far more in common with them than she might want to believe.

Now, on the run from a fire-wielding hit man and a secretive government organization, Alex must navigate a strange and treacherous new world filled with superhuman mutants known as Variants. As she begins to unravel the many secrets of her family’s past, she uncovers the real reason for her parents’ death twelve years earlier—and finds out that the threat to her family, and to everyone she cares about, is still dangerously real.

Sneak Peek:
Alex froze just inside the doorway.

The hallway that stretched out before her was packed with bodies, filled to capacity with students milling beside lockers and meandering toward their classes.

She took a breath and held it.

Kenzie and Cassie quickly disappeared into the crowd, leaving her behind.

Why hadn’t she walked the long way around the building? Her homeroom was three hallways and a commons area away, and the entire path would be packed until the second bell.

The sounds of conversation and laughter grew louder, surpassed in volume only by the sudden thudding of her heart as it pounded frantically against her ribcage.

So many people… all it would take is one touch from the wrong one, she thought. One touch, and I could lose control.

Move. She needed to move.

Someone brushed past her, jostling Alex’s shoulder as they entered through the double doors behind her.

Alex swallowed a whimper, searching frantically for an empty space in the chaos.

Hugging her arms tightly around her middle, Alex found an opening in the crowd and made her way to a narrow wall between two classroom doors, pressing her back against it and aching for an escape.

Closing her eyes, Alex fought to steady her breathing, then sucked in another ragged breath after being startled by the sound of the first bell blasting from a loudspeaker mounted to the wall above her head.

“Never pegged you as the agoraphobic type.”

Alex opened her eyes.

A smiling face stared down at her, a few short inches from her own.

Her first instinct was to jerk away, but a warm hand on her shoulder had pinned her firmly in place.

“Hold still, Alex,” Declan ordered. With his left hand placed protectively on one shoulder and his right hand pressed against the wall on her other side, Alex was effectively boxed in.

“Declan, you can’t—” she began, shrugging her shoulder where he held it in place.

Declan inched his fingers farther away from her exposed collarbone and down her sleeve, but still didn’t pull away. “You’re fine,” he said. “Just breathe.”

Students filed past on both sides. Alex eyed them nervously.

“Look at me,” Declan said quietly. “Not at them.”

Alex did as she was told. Declan just shook his head, smiling.

“You know, it’s probably a good thing you can’t jump right now,” he said in an undertone. “I would not have wanted to explain to Grayson why you teleported in the middle of a crowded hallway with dozens of witnesses.”

Ashes.

Cinnamon.

Declan.

Alex’s head swam with the sensory overload. Having Declan standing so close was only making it more difficult to pull herself together. She’d forgotten just how easily his nearness could knock her for a loop.

He was still smiling down at her as though they were just another normal couple stealing a quiet moment alone, instead of two Variants standing in the midst of a sea of humanity, while one of them tried to keep the other from falling apart entirely.

The passing students sent them a few curious glances as they walked into their classrooms, but otherwise gave them plenty of space.

Another few minutes and the crowds began to thin.

Declan removed his hand from her shoulder and took a step backward. “You okay to move?”

“I… Yes,” she said, her face flushed with embarrassment. “I am.”

Slipping past him, Alex marched off down the empty hallway. Declan’s long legs matched her stride easily.

“You want to talk about it?” he asked as they entered the open expanse of the commons area.

“Not particularly.”

“You sure?”

“I’m fine.”

“Right.”

The second bell rang.

Alex was officially late.

MIRA Stainless Steel Lunch Box Set Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

With a 5 year old, a 2 year old and an 8 month old I have to think about snacks pretty much all day. Whenever we go anywhere one of the things I need to take are snacks. Sometimes snack come in snack size packs but when they don't we need small containers to take some snacks with us. The MIRA stainless steel containers are awesome.

This set has one small and one medium but you can get a combination of any size you want. The options are one medium/one small, two medium or two small. There is also a set of three and they come in very pretty colors.

I love everything about the MIRA lunch/snack box set. They are the perfect size for almost any snack. They fit great in a diaper bag so you can take them with you anywhere. It also helps control how much snacks my children get because if I let them that would be all they would eat but when they finish the snacks in this container that is all they are getting. My kids love it!

  • Free of BPA, phthalates, PVC and lead
  • Containers are made of unlined 18/8 food-grade stainless steel

The Buzz

"Experience is the best teacher as Billy and his "purple shadow" learn a sweet lesson in Billy and the Monster Who Ate All the Easter Eggs. Beautifully illustrated, nicely formatted, this quick, easy story will be read over and over again." ~ 5 Star Review, Julia B., Amazon

"My daughter has really been enjoying David Chuka's Billy and Monster books. This is another fun addition to the "family." As always, the story has a lovely moral (this time teaching the value of moderation - definitely the biggest word in the book)! It's based on the very realistic theme of overindulging in chocolate/sweets, which virtually anyone can relate to and which kids find a lot of fun. And, awesome pictures as always. Definitely recommend it." ~ 5 Star Review, Renee B., Amazon

"I really like the little monster in this book and how they get into trouble together. What child hasn't snuck into the cache of candies that their parents have hidden? Cute story with a lesson for the little ones in your family!" ~ 5 Star Review, Patricia T., Amazon

"This is a cute story about a little boy Billy and his funny friend Monster. They love chocolate so much that they forget about obeying to older. At night, they sneaked to the chocolate egg pyramid, started eating the chocolate eggs and made a big mess. On the morning, they not only got in a big trouble, but they also got a bad stomach pain. They both had to learn a lessons about MODERATION. Nice illustrations, book well written." ~ 5 Star Review, OPV, Amazon

"Billy and his monster friend enjoy lots of fun in this book, filled with great pictures and a cute story. It shares a lot about celebrating holidays, and intertwines humor and family love throughout the story. Hidden in the story is a nice message about eating in moderation, a well needed lesson in our culture of over-eating. Billy ends up being proud of himself and makes good decisions by the end of the book, while all the while sharing some adventures with his cute monster friend. Great read to share with your children or grandchildren year round, not just for the Easter holiday." ~ 5 Star Review, Katie W., Amazon
