Well September is finally here! That means we have to start thinking about Halloween because October will be here before you know it. I don't know when anyone else starts getting ready for Halloween but I start in September. I haven't decided what I will be yet but I know part of my outfit will be this beautiful Black Burlesque Corset from CorsetChick.com! I chose a size medium because I am a size 5 and the website says medium fits size 4-6. I did have to pull on the ribbon to adjust it because it was way too tight at first but it was so easy to make it fit right. Now I can't wait for Halloween to get here! I'm thinking I might add a skirt and maybe some wings and call myself a fairy? Haha I'm not sure yet that's just an idea. Do you have any suggestions? Will you dress up for Halloween? If you do what will you be?

I love this costume http://www.corsetchick.com/servlet/the-1790/Dark-Angel-Gothic-Halloween/Detail

Look how shiny it is!

Sorry about the bad pictures my 5 year old is my photographer. I just wanted to show how this corset looks on me instead of on a model (top pictures). My body usually looks like a stick but the corset seems to give me a little shape and I love that!

You can find the Black Burlesque Corset here

There's so many corsets, lingerie, costumes and more!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Book Excerpt: Fable And Unfortunate Fairy Tale Book 3
Mina stopped and parted the long weeping willow’s branches, and could see the rose resting against Jared’s black boot. Wait…not Jared—Teague. Teague reached down to pick up the rose and brought it to his nose to breathe in its scent. His hair was a lighter shade of brown than Jared’s, and his eyes were a deep blue, while Jared’s were a haunting gray. They both had similar angular jaws and drop-dead gorgeous looks. Teague once again was dressed in black, and Mina had a mind to joke about whether he was going to a funeral, but he was, so the words died on her lips before she even spoke them. Instead, she glared at him and held out her hand, demanding the rose without saying a word. Teague’s eyes widened and looked her over, never once dropping his Cheshire Cat smile. “I only came to pay my respects.” “What respect? You don’t respect me or my family. Otherwise, your kind never would have cursed us.” “You’re wrong—it’s always wise to respect your enemies.” “Well, I don’t respect you.” “You should, Mina. Do you see what happens when you ignore your duty—when you ignore me?” He pointed to Charlie’s grave, and his voice became threatening. “I don’t like to be ignored, and now you have one less distraction in your life, so you
can focus more of your time on me.” Teague’s words confirmed her worst fears. Her actions had led Teague to strike out against her family and kill her brother. Her stomach dropped, bile rose in her throat, and every inch of her was sick with the guilt his words layered on her. It was her fault, and she knew it. But she couldn’t show him how weak she was, and how much his words had affected her. She had one more person to protect: her mother, and she would not be negligent again. “You’re not welcome here. So please leave.” Mina snatched the rose out of Teague’s hand and felt a sting in her palm. She winced in pain but refused to acknowledge it. Teague reached for her hand, and Mina let him open up her palm to inspect her wound from the thorn. She was still reeling, and her whole body shook with anger. Teague leaned forward and blew on the small cut in her palm, and it healed itself. She ripped her hand from his grasp and took two steps away from him, almost falling on the ground. She needed to keep better control of herself. She needed Jared.
“How is my dear brother?” he asked, as if reading her mind. “Why don’t you ask him yourself?” His eyes darkened. “We are not exactly on speaking terms.” “It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that you keep trying to kill me, would it?” “Now, sweet Mina, our fight goes back long before you were born. But you can’t hold it against me that I’m only doing my job. I’m supposed to throw quests your way, and you are supposed to try to stop me. It’s as simple as that. I can’t help it if we have a casualty or so in the process. That’s what makes the stories so good.” He smirked. “That’s what makes them popular. That’s what makes me powerful.” He was so close to her now that he ran the back of his finger across her cheek, and she flinched and smacked it away. “I see that you are as disgusting as ever.” “I see that you’re getting your fight back. You know, Mina, out of all the Grimms over the years who died at the hands of my fables, you are by far my favorite to toy with. I wonder why that is?” he asked, appearing to ponder the question. “Maybe because you picked the wrong girl to mess with.” “I don’t think so. I’ve finally found the perfect Grimm. I think you will be the most challenging. Which means your ending, the tale that finishes you off, will make us both famous.” Mina’s lip trembled, and she steeled herself to not show fear. She stood her ground and looked Teague right in the eye. “A thousand sweet words can never disguise the rattle of a viper about to strike. I will not drop my guard ever again. And I will end this curse…by doing whatever…or killing whoever…I have to.” Teague’s face turned furious, and his lips pressed into an angry thin line. “Then be prepared, my dear Mina, for you won’t be able to ignore this next tale. I’ve made sure of that.” He stepped away from her. A crack of thunder rattled the earth and she jumped, turning in surprise. A second later, pouring rain followed, soaking everyone within minutes. Mina turned back toward Teague, but he was gone.

Woolzies Dryer Balls Review

Product Description:
Woolzies are 100% pure new zealand wool dryer balls that do everything that conventional fabric softeners do plus they reduce drying time by 25%. They are money back guaranteed to last for at least 1,000 loads! Woolzies have no chemicals at all and are also hypoallergenic so are safe even for people with wool sensitivities.

My tiny hands cant even wrap around them, they are bigger than I expected!

My opinion:
I heard of dryer balls for the first time this year and ever since I heard of them I have looked on Etsy, Amazon, and anywhere else I could think of looking at and researching them. I knew I wanted to buy some but couldn't decide which ones to buy. That's why I was pretty excited to have a chance to review the Woolzies Dryer Balls. I do a couple loads of laundry a week and have used these dryer balls for a few weeks now. I don't use fabric softeners because they confuse me so I don't know the difference between them and these dryer balls. I can honestly say that it did help my jeans and towels dry better because every time I dry jeans and towels they don't feel completely dry. Since I only wash two loads of laundry a week and Woolzies is supposed to last for at least 1,000 loads they will last me a long time! I love using them especially because they are eco-friendly and for some reason eco friendly products makes me feel better. They are also so easy to use just throw them in the dryer with your clothes and get them out when you are done unless you just want to leave them in there until your next load!

EXCERPT:
"So Ben Parker, if I want you and you want me...what's the problem?"
"You don't like to beat around the bush, do you?"
"We don't have time for that. We only have one night."
"Yeah," he said softly. "Don't I know it."
I turned so that I was fully facing him, one elbow on the railing. "Is that why you're reluctant? Because you're leaving tomorrow?"
"No. Yes. Partly." He shook his head. "It's complicated. I'm complicated."
"You're a guy. You can't be too complicated." I smiled and he smiled back sadly. "I'm listening if you want to explain all your complications to me."
He shook his head. "I can't."
"Look," I said. "I get that stuff has happened in your past that you want to forget."
He straightened. "What makes you think that?"
"You're traveling around the country with only one bag and no money. Not only that, but you got off the bus in a place with no jobs. If I wasn't mistaken, I'd say you're trying to lose yourself."
He leaned on the railing again, his hands dangling over into nothing. He looked out to the garden, but it had grown darker in the last few minutes, and it was difficult to make out more than just shapes. "You'll make a great criminologist, Kate. I have no doubt you'll go far in whatever you decide to do."
"Thanks. That's very sweet of you. But it has nothing to do with the question at hand."
"The question?"
I leaned over until my lips were near his ear. My breath fanned his hair. "Will you kiss me, Ben?" It was the wine talking. It had to be. I'd never been so brazen with any man before. I never made the first move, never took a chance on being rejected.
But I knew Ben wanted me. I just didn't know why he pushed me away.

My Opinion:
Embrace:
I loved Embrace. I thought this book did a great job of introducing the characters. I felt like I got to know the characters pretty well and I love that because every once in a while I will read a book when there's to many character's and it gets confusing but I didn't have that problem with this book. At first I wasn't to sure I liked Isaac very much but towards the end I really liked him. Great characters, great story!

Hold Tight:
Hold Tight  continues right where Embrace left off. Madison is still learning to use her powers and has a lot to learn! I don't really know what to say because you really need to read this book to find out what happens. All I can say is that I loved this book just as much as the first one. This is another 5 star book for me!

 Excerpt:
He mumbled in his fitful sleep, finally waking with a jerk. Using his legs, he pushed himself back against the wooden headboard where he now sat, sweat dripping down his forehead, panting. His heart thundered as his eyes feverishly scanned the room, first passing and then whipping back to the large form silhouetted in the hall. In disbelief, he blinked rapidly trying to clear his vision. Afraid to move his eyes from the doorway, he reached out with his left hand, and groped the nightstand for his glasses. Growling now, the huge creature filled the entire doorway, and with an earsplitting roar, dipped his head to enter and stepped inside the small room.  The glasses, finally located and now clutched in his hand, slipped from his fingers and clattered to the floor. His body trembled as a terror-filled scream rose from his throat and filled the air.

I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years.

After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series since I was a child, I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well....it wasn't as easy as I thought, but I stuck to it, and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have six books in the series and am about to release book two of my new series Phantom Lives.

My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, and do it right. I believe that, and live that every day.

I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been, what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more, so Royal Blood Chronicles was born!  As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop. I hope you enjoy them.

~* Excerpt *~
“I wish I could just crawl into your brain and erase away the past,” I told him, trying to smile through the pain in my heart.
My words seemed to shock him. He placed his fingers under my chin, gently lifting it so that our eyes could meet. “Don’t ever say that again. I wouldn’t let anyone to take away my past—no matter how bad some parts of it had been.” He pulled my face closer to his, resting his head against mine. “Because that would mean getting rid of you, Silver.”
We stayed frozen in place for a while, our foreheads touching lightly. Sawyer closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, breathing me in. Overwhelmed by his proximity and his icy scent, my head began to spin.
“But if we didn’t know each other you wouldn’t have to worry about having the worst snowboarding student in all of Whistler,” I finally said, breaking the tension.
His head rocked against mine as he chuckled. “Shut up. You were great today.” Then he pulled away and reached for the sushi container. “And you’ll be even better once we get some food in you.”
“Food?” I blurted out, unable to hide my disappointment. It washed over me like a bucket of ice cold water. I had been hoping for a different type of comfort. One which was less food-related and more Sawyer-based. My body was still tingling with the memory of what his skilled hands had done to me the night before. As the images flooded my mind, my breathing quickened and my nipples hardened, mounting under the fabric of the kimono.
I crossed my arms over my chest and took a deep breath. “Let’s take the sushi to the living room and find a good thriller to watch,” I suggested in an attempt to calm the excitement coursing through me. Guns and explosions would keep my thoughts in check. If my body was going to tingle, it may as well be from the thrill of a chase scene. Not Sawyer’s panty-dropping gaze. “I saw a couple of new releases in the DVD collection. I imagine action flicks are still your poison, right?”
“They are.” The right side of his lip quirked up in a slow, crooked half-grin. “Though I’m surprised you’re not championing The Notebook.”
“I only made you watch that with me because Maddie was away the summer it came out,” I said defensively.
He chuckled. “The first time. But what about all those other times I had to sit through it?”
“Cut me some slack. I was a thirteen-year-old girl.” In like with a guy I wasn’t even supposed to be hanging out with. Subconsciously, I may have related to the star-crossed lovers portrayed in the film.
“And I was a fifteen-year-old guy,” he retorted. “You should’ve known that blood and guts were much more important for my development than kisses and love stories.”
“Well it’s a good thing that I’m going to find a movie with enough blood and guts to make up for all those times I made you watch a chick flick,” I shot back.
He shook his head in feigned displeasure. “It’s too late now.”
“Oh? Why is that?”
“Because now...” His hands slid to the side of my stool and dragged me closer to him so that his mouth was an inch away from mine. “…I happen to enjoy kissing.”
My eyes dropped to his lips. “Is that so? You like kissing girls?”
“I like kissing a girl.”
“Lucky girl.”
“Very lucky girl,” he replied as his eyes darkened. “Especially since I want to do a lot more than just kiss her.” His tongue snaked over his bottom lip in a predatory manner, causing my own lips to part in response.
Though he wasn’t actually touching me, I could feel the heat emanating from his body. It drew me in like a moth to a flame. I wanted to dive into his fire, surrender myself to whatever pleasures he was promising.
But then he doused that blaze by saying, “I’ll wash the cherries, you get the sushi, and let’s get started on that movie.”
What? No, no, no! I wanted to get back to the kissing talk.
“I’m not that hungry.” I ran my fingers through my hair in an attempt to regain my composure.
“Why do you look so disappointed?”
“It’s just that…”
Why was I feeling let down? And so freaking turned on?
“Were you expecting me to say something else instead?” His fingers drifted to the side of my neck, as his thumb grazed over my bottom lip, tugging at the soft, plump flesh.
“Something along the lines of: ‘I’ll rip your clothes off, you kiss me with that pretty little mouth, and let’s fuck right here on top of this counter.’?” His grip tightened and he drew my mouth closer to his. “Is that what you want, Silver?”
A lustful ache spread between my thighs, ripping through my entire body. Excitement rocked the depths of my stomach, tearing into my chest, slipping past my lips in form of a small, pleading moan.
“Is that a yes?” His breath teased my lips with each word.
Afraid that I would be unable to form a coherent sentence, I simply nodded. It was an eager, hungry nod, and my heart hammered against my ribcage in anticipation of his next move.
And that’s when he pulled away. He detached his hand from my face and took a step back, replacing the heat of his body with an empty coldness.
“First, I’m going to make you sit through two long hours of an action flick,” he said, smirking devilishly. “As payback for The Notebook.”

The Marriage Pact Guest Post

The Marriage Pact by M.J. Pullen
Contemporary Romance
Date Published: July 2011

Book Description:
Marci Thompson always knew what life would be like by her 30th birthday. A large but cozy suburban home shared with a charming husband and two brilliant children. A celebrated career as an established writer, complete with wall-to-wall mahogany shelves and a summer book tour. A life full of adventure with her friends and family by her side.

Instead, Marci lives alone in 480 square feet of converted motel space next to a punk rock band, hundreds of miles from her friends and family. She works in a temporary accounting assignment that has somehow stretched from two weeks into nine months. And the only bright spot in her life, not to mention the only sex she’s had in two years, is an illicit affair with her married boss, Doug. Thirty is not at all what it is cracked up to be.

Then the reappearance of a cocktail napkin she hasn’t seen in a decade opens a long-forgotten door, and Marci’s life gets complicated, fast. The lines between right and wrong, fantasy and reality, heartache and happiness are all about to get very blurry, as Marci faces the most difficult choices of her life.

My 10 Favorite Books (and why)  Thanks so much for having me! As you can see, my taste in books is pretty eclectic. If a book can pull me in and make me care about the characters, I’m sold. So even though I write romantic comedies and contemporary fiction, several of my longtime favorite books are from other genres. The hardest thing is picking just ten!

  • Their Eyes Were Watching God – Zora Neale Hurston. In my opinion, ZNH is one of the most underrated black women authors of our era. She was an anthropologist, and her novels are vivid, lyrical and intensely human folk stories. I read this my senior year in high school and it changed my view of the world.
  • 100 Years of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez. A stunningly beautiful, dense family epic. I keep lending this book out and it never gets returned!
  • To the Lighthouse – Virginia Woolf. Stream of consciousness, meaning of life, ocean symbolism. Her genius is sometimes hard to get your arms around, and it was too much even for her to bear, but it’s worth the effort.
  • As I Lay Dying – William Faulkner. If this list were 100 books long, at least 10 would be either Woolf or Faulkner. This book is sad and weird and grotesquely beautiful: “my mother is a fish.”
  • Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen. First romance on the list! Again, I could list all six of her novels here but that would be boring. I love that Austen captures the complicated social milieus of the Victorian era, along with a full spectrum of characters – quirky, elegant, and always flawed, with humor and intelligence. And always surrounding a complicated, riveting love story. There’s a reason everyone wants to be Jane Austen!
  • The Red Tent – Anita Diamant. This book influenced me on the path to Judaism, and it’s a celebration of the strength of women and the deep roots of our shared heritage.
  • The Stand – Stephen King. One of the first of his I read, and to this day it’s one of my favorites. I love how King can take a sweeping epic of an apocalyptic battle between good and evil, and still leave you feeling as though you know each of the characters personally. You can almost hear what’s playing on the radio.
  • The Poisonwood Bible – Barbara Kingsolver. I love this book’s storyline and setting in the Congo, but what stuck with me the most were the shifts in perspective and the way choice of narrator and voice influences how a story can unfold.
  • Bridget Jones’s Diary – Helen Fielding. Much lighter fare, this book made me want to write romantic comedy. It’s so funny and relatable, and Fielding does a splendid job of using the diary device without letting it get in the way of the story.
  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy – J.R.R. Tolkien. Okay, it’s really three books… Tolkien was a linguist first and foremost, and he built these incredible worlds and races of people based on languages, poetry and songs. He also turned out to be a heck of a storyteller, and pretty much started his own genre. Not too shabby!

About the author:
When she’s not chasing two little boys or trying to wipe something sticky off the floor, M.J. (Manda) Pullen is the bestselling author of two contemporary women’s fiction novels: The Marriage Pact (2011) and Regrets Only (2012). She is working on several new projects as well, including more women’s fiction and a YA paranormal adventure series.

M.J. grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. Writing has always been a big part of her life, both professionally and personally. She studied English Literature and Business at the University of Georgia in Athens, and later Professional Counseling at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She practiced psychotherapy for five years before taking a sabbatical to spend more time writing and raising her brood. Since high school, she has also been an executive assistant, cashier, telemarketer, professional fundraiser, marketing guru, magazine writer, grant-writer, waitress, box-packer, HR person, and casual drifter.

M.J. loves creating true-to-life characters who are flawed, relatable, and most importantly redeemable. She tries to explore all aspects of relationships, from romantic entanglements to battles between mortal enemies, and everything in between. She reads and writes across many genres, and learns something from everything she does. No matter what she’s writing, M.J. believes that love is the greatest adventure there is, and that hopeless romantics are never really hopeless.

After years traveling and living in places like Portland, Oregon, and Austin, Texas, M.J. has now returned to her home city of Atlanta (actually Roswell, for hard-core Roosevelt fans and connoisseurs of suburban culture), where she lives with her husband and two young sons. She loves to hear from readers and other writers – so drop her a line!

GUEST POST:
What Inspires My Writing
As a new author, I discovered that once I picked up the pencil and sat down to write inspiration was all around me. The inspiration for Stepping Up To Love, Book One of the Lakeside Porches series, came one sunny winter morning on the porch of a well-known inn in the Finger Lakes. I was there with family and  friends to celebrate a dear friends 90th birthday. Watching the staff serve up incredible food and fuss over our friend made me wonder about their lives, their hopes and dreams. So many stories! The idea for Lakeside Porches was born that sunny winter morning. I didn't go looking for it, and I never imagined I'd sit down that winter to create a whole world the fictitious city of Tompkins Falls on beautiful Chestnut Lake but I'm enjoying every minute of it! Within each book of the series, there are snippets inspired by my past, my interests, my struggles, and my own dreams. For example, in the current novel Book Three of the Lakeside Porches series there's an old wooden canoe that has been in Gwen's family forever. Gwen and her hero Peter get the canoe back in water and enjoy many happy hours one summer and fall until a storm on the lake puts them and the old canoe in danger. I won't spoil it for you; I'll just say how much fun it has been to draw on memory and add some judicious research to bring these scenes to life. Now that I'm engaged in writing a series of romances set in a small city, I also have a ready supply of external inspiration. Writers like Mariah Stewart, Robyn Carr, and Debbie Macomber have written series that make me reach for another as soon as I finish one; in Maeve Binchy's books some characters reappear from time to time, enriching the current story and bringing us up to date on their lives. I'm fascinated by the approach each of these authors takes and in awe of the way each expresses deeply held beliefs through their stories and their characters. I learn and grow as an author as I read each book by these outstanding authors. Inspiration is all around, if I 'm open to it. The more I write, the more open I am. I hope that never stops.

Crazy Dog T-shirts Review

Product Description:
Crazy Dog T-shirts was created in 2004 by founder Bill Kingston, in his Ithaca College dorm room, and officially incorporated in 2004. Bill started selling 5-6 simple screenprinted designs as his final project for an e-Commerce class, and when the orders kept rolling in after graduation, Bill kept printing! In 2006, Bill and his wife Brie moved their headquarters from their home in Rochester, NY to a small office space in the city with Bill operating himself full time and Brie Part-Time. By 2012, CrazyDogTshirts.com had moved in to a 7000 square foot shipping warehouse with a full service custom screenprinting facility and currently employees 15 Full Time and 2 Part Time employees.

We specialize in funny and vintage apparel, printed on ultra soft tshirts. Although over 80% of the designs we sell are created and printed in house, we do also offer selections from our partners such as Junk Food Clothing, Ripple Junction, David & Goliath, and Goodie Two Sleeves. These partnerships together with our exclusive designs allow us to offer our customers the best selection at the best prices...we guarantee it! Crazy Dog Tshirts also functions as a full service screenprinting shop offering low prices on custom apparel for personal and business orders.

My Opinion:
I received 5 shirts from Crazy Dog T-shirts to review! The first one was a maternity shirt that says "This is my last one... seriously." I was 39 weeks pregnant and I chose a size small but it didn't feel tight at all.

You can find this funny maternity shirt here

The next three are size small in womens and I love how soft they feel. The cotton material feels a little thin but very comfortable and I love how it fits.

This last one is also a size small but I think it's in a men's size. It isn't form fitting like the other ones and feels a little thicker.

I loved looking through the website because they have really funny shirts but this were some of my favorites!

You can find these shirts here:
"If zombies chase us I'm tripping you"
"I find this humerus"
"Of course I talk to myself sometimes I need expert advice"
"Lucky Charm"

Princess Sophia and The Frog Book Review

Book Description:
A wonderful fairy tale about friendship and happiness:

Princess Sophia is a little princess who has everything a little princess could wish for:
a big castle with many things inside.
However, she is bored and wants to fly to the moon.
One day a little frog comes by and helps her fly high up into the sky.
They come to land on different planets, where Sophia learns about feelings. She also learns that she can choose what mood she surrounds herself with, as this will impact her own.
After her return to the castle she realizes that all she needs to be happy is to be surrounded by good friends.

Join Princess Sophia in her pursuit of happiness.

My Opinion:
In Princess Sophia And The Frog a bored princess decides she wants to fly to the moon. A frog comes to help her all she has to do is give him a kiss and dance with him. She goes to different planets but the first one is a sad planet, the second one is a mad planet and the third is a happy planet. She decides she wants to stay but has to come back home since she forgets to kiss the frog. This is a very cute children's book about friendship and happiness. The pictures are beautiful and I love that it is a rhyming book. My daughter loves that it's a princess story because she thinks she is a princess!
